Are you a first time dog owner feeling overwhelmed with all the advice out there?

You're not alone.

When I got a puppy, I was bombarded with information online and from the people around me. A lot of it was out-of-date and felt wrong. The puppy classes I went to weren't much better. My dog was far from the star student and I left feeling frustrated and unconfident.

I wanted to know how to train my puppy effectively, build a lovely bond with him, and avoid problem behaviours like reactivity, resource guarding and separation anxiety.

I needed a personal puppy trainer. Someone who could show me the right path, quickly answer any questions or resolve any issues I had, and leave me feeling ready to maintain my dog's training for the rest of his life.

I became that person.

“Our training sessions for Labrador puppy with Lauren have been amazing! She tailors them to exactly what we want to work on, loads of helpful tips which are always simple to follow! The training plans sent after the sessions are great, we used these as a physical guide to keep on track with training in between sessions. We are so happy with how much our puppy has progressed since our first session. Highly recommend Winnie’s World, thank you!”

Hannah

“Lauren has given me invaluable advice on training my puppy. She is very thorough and her instructions are easy to follow. She follows up regularly to see how things are going and offers alternatives if your baby is not getting it. I would highly recommend Lauren.”

Diane

“Very good. I have found Willow responds well to the training and the repetitions. Nipping and pawing has got less and the mouthing has not much pressure now. Of course she can still have moments of mad zooming around and at times be stubborn. This training works well for a grandad of 66 years and a grand daughter of 9 years and of course a 4 month old puppy.”

James

“I have 4 rescue dogs that become very excited on arrival of visitors. They also bark a lot!! Lauren advised ways to get immediate attention from all the dogs using positive reinforcement methods. Only took a couple of days for them to grasp it, makes life so much easier. Highly recommended. Thank you so much Lauren.”

Lauren Sharkey

I'm Lauren, an ABTC-registered dog trainer and founder of Winnie's World. I know what it's like to have a "difficult" dog and set out to learn all I could about dogs, thanks to my Shar Pei Winston's various behavioural challenges. On that journey, I've gained a degree-level qualification in canine behaviour (and am working towards Clinical Animal Behaviourist accreditation), worked with various rescue organisations (both in kennels and helping new adopters), and guided plenty of people through their dogs' puppy period, teenage years and beyond. Now, I've set out to help people all across the world who are looking for simple and effective advice that won't damage the bond with their dog.

So what makes this course different from the rest?

Well, it focuses on the vital stuff, so you don't become overwhelmed as a first time dog owner. I could give you hundreds of videos but realistically, you're not going to watch them! (If you do want more, stay tuned for access to webinars with me and other dog experts.)

It also takes you through the most important part of your dog's early life: the socialisation period. Get that part right and you can reduce the chance of your dog showing behavioural problems later in life.

It shows you real-life training; not the heavily edited stuff you tend to see online. That's because it's important to know what to do when things go wrong. After all, when you're working with a living being, things won't always go to plan!

Finally, it aims to leave you feeling confident in your training abilities so you don't need to rely on a professional forever. My feedback on your training videos and in-depth support if you need it (available for a discounted price) will do just that.

FAQ

  • What are the benefits of online puppy training?

When we’re teaching our dogs something new, we want them to be in a place without a lot of distractions. Your home, where they feel comfortable, is ideal for initial learning. Some dogs (and people!) can struggle in classes with everything that’s going on and may even find a trainer in their home too distracting. So virtual courses like this one can help speed up that initial training. Plus, you can start puppy training at eight weeks, so don’t need to wait around. Online training is also ideal for those times where your puppy doesn’t feel like training. Believe me, it happens – puppies can easily get tired. With this course, I demonstrate everything with my own dog and you can watch the videos whenever you like and practise at a more convenient time. Plus, you can rewatch them as many times as you need.

  • Is this course just for puppies?

Not at all! While the socialisation lessons are mainly relevant for puppies, the rest can help any dog – whether you've just adopted an older rescue dog or are looking to go back to basics with an adult dog. Plus, you can get personalised feedback on your training videos for dogs of any age.

  • What methods do you use?

Dogs respond best to reward-based training and these techniques are crucial for their welfare. Combining the latest science with respect for their doggie nature, I aim to help you understand them and teach them all they need to know so you can live happily together. I use compassionate methods and will never use any technique that causes distress or discomfort.

  • How long do I have to finish the course?

You have access for life and can access every lesson straight away! While it's laid out as a six-week course, you don't need to finish everything in six weeks. Socialisation is the most important thing for puppies so if that's all you do for the first few weeks of their life with you, that's plenty. The rest of the training can be taught at any age. Plus, lifetime access means you can use the training later on if you get another dog or if you need to refresh your current dog's skills.

  • Will I still need to attend puppy classes?

It's entirely up to you! Your dog likely won't be able to attend puppy classes until they've at least received their first vaccination or been fully vaccinated, which tends to happen towards the end of the socialisation window. That means you'll need to have been working on socialisation before a typical puppy class begins. This course will teach you exactly how to do that. This course will also teach you everything you'll learn in a standard puppy class. But some people like to attend classes as well so their dog can get used to training around other dogs and people. (Of course, you can do this for free in your local area!)

  • Will this stop my dog from becoming reactive?

Behaviour is complex, involving everything from genetics and early experiences to health and the bond your dog shares with you. So it's impossible to say we can prevent a dog from developing a behavioural issue like reactivity. But we can avoid ourselves becoming a contributing factor to problems by understanding how to communicate with and train our dogs appropriately. And we can try to make sure they've received adequate socialisation and are comfortable with various things they may come across in later life. If your dog's already showing behavioural issues, get in touch. If I can't help you, I'll refer you to someone who can.

  • Can I get a refund?

You can receive a full refund within 14 days of purchasing the course. But if you're struggling, please get in touch. I would love to find a way to help you make the most of the content.
